FROM THE PRINCIPAL'S DESK
St. John of God Secondary School, Awka was founded in January 1964. Rev. Sr. Mary Camillus of St. John of God Religious Congregation, Ireland was the pioneer principal who succeeded in bringing the school to a reputable standard.
The school is one of the top ranking schools in Anambra State, with a lot of structures that make the school welcoming. Such structures include a gigantic hall which is now a venue for all school activities and other activities that are carried out in the state; there is a well equipped computer unit which has been approved and used for JAMB examinations, and our students also benefit from such JAMB centre. Space is not a problem to the school-a large expanse of land is used for various sporting activities. Coming to academics, the school is one of the best in the state. There are lots of experienced teachers who help in the training of the children, both morally and academically. The school authority is currently at the completion of the construction of a three-in-one dormitory that takes a capacity of 2000 students. The Old Girls of the school also contribute to the uplift of the school by donating and constructing valuable amenities to the school. We remain ever grateful to them.
The population of the students increases day by day. The school moulds and inculcates discipline in the life of her students. The management of St. John of God Secondary School, Awka strives to enjoin all students both past and present to make the best use of the morals and discipline that have been instilled in them.
